that took the mound for the nationals. starting with ross detwiler who was your first pick as general manager, if i'm not mistaken. >> jim was the gm, but he was the first pick since i got here. he was the '07 first rounder. pitched magnificently with a lot of pressure on him. but it wasn't surprising. we've been relying on our pitching throughout the whole season. and when you can beat a really good team like the st. louis cardinals with three hits and two runs, you know the pitching staff has done a terrific job. >> the relievers were awesome. storen came in and had two strikeouts. the bull pen, we talked about the starting pitching. but we shouldn't sleep on how good the bull pen has been all season. >> i say pitching in general. the rotation's been great. the bull pen has been stellar all season for us. you know, with some injuries, injury to our closer last year, drew storen, clifford steps up and saves ourselves. and the performance of even a lesser -- the lesser known names, ryan matthews and sean burnett and the rest of them. mike gonzalez has pitched terrifically all season.

, what a great, great pitching display last night. ross detwiler is the unsung hero this n. this thing. he went six innings and kept the cardinals at bay and then the bullpen did the rest. what an exciting game four it was here at nats park yesterday afternoon. they got off to the good foot yesterday with adam laroche who got it all started. the nats only had three hits. two of them were home runs. here is the first one in the second inning and there it goes. adam laroche is dead center field. it came down to the bullpen tied autopsy at one. the nats bullpen did damage. jordan zimmerman, the game two starter struck out the side in the seventh. then tyler clippard came in the eighth and he did the same door things sit down, st. louis. drew storen, you can get some too dishing it out to the cardinal hitters. it came down to jayson werth. the leadoff, the bottom of the ninth inning. a 13-pitch at bat. it was epic. and the only thing better than the at-bats with the celebration because all of d.c. was pumped up after this one. 2-19 final and the guys talked about this historic win. istori
